Communications Support

Often people in need of support may have communication challenges.  Communication is a key part of any good behavioural plan. PNGI's team has expertise in many areas that deal with communication.

Communication Assessments:  If a person needs assistance to be able to either communicate their needs more successfully to others or to have a better way to understand what others are communicating to them, PNGI works with the team to assess options for augmentative communication systems.

Augmentative Communication Systems:  Using visuals, symbols, pictures, gestures, sounds and body language can compliment or augment typcial means of communication.  PNGI can help identify potentially useful tools or systems to help promote effective communication.  In many cases when you help someone improve their communication skills, you see an improvement in their behaviour.

Survival Sign Language:  Using basic sign language might help build communication abilities for someone, PNGI can help with its Survival Sign Language class.  This is a six week class (2 hrs per week) that teaches students over 250 vocabulary words along with other essentials for communicating using basic sign language.  PNGI also consults individually in this area.
