Empowering people towards excellence.

Good News - Bad News…

Talk about a good news / bad news story... For the second year in a row, PNGI is very pleased and proud to announce that we have not only met our empoyment outcome targets for the 2013 / 2014 contract year, but we have exceeded them!  In fact it looks like we are on track to achieving more than 140% success rates this year.  That is the "Good News".

The "Bad News" is that it is the last year of our contract and the federal government is deciding to put its money elsewhere.  the provincial government is also choosing not to continue to support our very successful specialized employment program.  As a result our employment services will be ending completely as of March 31, 2014.  (New intakes have already ended).

The provincial government has decided that the employment services for people with disabilities will now be run out of the one-stop "Work BC" centres where they are hoping to be able to meet the needs of everyone.

At PNGI we are not completely supportive of the generic 'one-stop' model.  We strongly believe ther eis a real need for specialized services by people with specific expertise in their fields of work, in particular in providing effective support to people with multiple barriers to employment.

PNGI will continue to deliver our behavioural and lifeskills support to adults under contract with CLBC, as well as professional support for those supporting these individuals but our 20 years of delivering very successful specialized employment services in Terrace will end as of March 31, 2014.
