PNGI Training a Great Success in Port Coquitlam & New Westminster!

Chris Arnold, clinical director of PNGI recently spent four days with a great group of employees from Simon Fraser Society for Community Living going through a customized training program titled “Evolution to Employment”, developed by PNGI in collaboration with SFSCL’s leadership team.

The training was presented to two groups of employees from SFSCL over four days.  It was an energetic and engaging week examining the potential and opportunity for people with disabilities to be employed in their community, and practical strategies to help make that happen.

This two part training included Part 1 “Vision to Work”, looking at the history of community living in BC from segregation to physical integration to social integration.  Part 1 also looked at the evolution of a Vision to Work for people with developmental disabilities and the positive ripple effects of employment.

Part 2 was the very popular “Making It Work” session that has been delivered with rave reviews throughout BC and in Alberta.

It was an amazing four days of inspiring, motivating and exciting people to the capacity and potential of people with disabilities when it comes to real work for real pay in their communities!
